From Hope to Action: The Journey of SAVSIM CIC

Updated: Aug 6

Four years ago, James Martin (my co-founder) and I sat outside The Hope Pub in Wandsworth Common, sharing a common passion for supporting the veteran community and preventing wildlife crime. It was there that the seeds of SAVSIM CIC were planted.

Today, I am proud to reflect on the incredible journey we have embarked upon. SAVSIM CIC has delivered numerous Warriors of Hope animal-assisted therapy programs, helping veterans cope with mental health challenges and PTSD. This has been made possible through our partnership with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a collaboration that has brought immense benefits to those who have served our country.

Our impact continues to grow. I am thrilled to announce the launch of another anti-poaching and ranger training program in South Africa. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with former members of the Parachute Regiment and the New Zealand Defence Force, is a testament to our commitment to helping veterans transition into roles that prevent wildlife crime.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. Their contributions, whether through attending our fundraisers or donating their time and money, have been invaluable. Remarkably, it costs us just £42.00 a month to run SAVSIM CIC, thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers. From our Patrons and Ambassadors to our Fundraising, Operations, and Marketing teams, as well as our independent Advisory Board, everyone works tirelessly to advance our mission.

As I sit here reflecting on how far we have come, I am deeply grateful for the friends and supporters who have stood by us. A special thank you to CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) and my friend Shahine Mardani for their unwavering support of not just SAVSIM CIC, but also the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and the Alzheimer's Society. The Alzheimer's Society holds a special place in my heart, as my mother passed away from the disease a few years ago.

To all our supporters, thank you. Please visit our website at www.savsim.org to learn more about our work, or follow us on Instagram at @savsim_official to stay updated on our latest initiatives.
