"Veterans in Conservation, Preventing Wildlife Crime"
As CEO of SAVSIM CIC we are involved in many projects around the Globe, recently returning with a team of Veterans from the Ivory Coast, supporting Big Cat charity PANTHERA on the feasibility of the reintroduction and protection of the West African Lion.
This involved a detailed feasibility of the site /park as to how it could sustain the Lion population, as well as the biological assessments, we also looked at the in country risks , human threats i.e. poaching, current poaching problems (is it for bush meat or commercial profit) , species targeting , poaching methods , safety of staff on the ground , current park Ranger capacity and training , security risks , Ranger training needs , vehicles and logistics capacity , patrol strategies, HEAT training , communication strategies and crime scene investigations and poacher apprehension techniques.
We are looking forward to delivering our report and findings too PANTHERA, with a big thank you too Mark Booton , Security Operations and Law Enforcement at PANTHERA
Helping Veterans to transition into the world of preventing wildlife crime can only be achieved by the generous donations of our sponsors and donors, not forgetting those who attend our fundraising events throughout the year.
